Eagles Fought & Loss in 5-Set Match VS Webber International
Babson Park, FL – After a tough 3-1 loss to a good Warner team the night before, the Reinhardt men's volleyball team was back in action today, Saturday, February 4th. The Eagles matched up against the Warriors of Webber International University and this was an exciting match. The first-set was in the Eagles' hands when they had game-point 24-23. Then a great serve from the Warriors ended in 3 back-to-back aces to clench the first set. The Eagles then battled back with drilling offense, winning sets 2 & 3 but Webber didn't back down and played off their crowd's environment, clenching the 4th and then the deciding set after. Webber ultimately won this match in 5 sets (24-26, 25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 11-15). The Eagles offense certainly didn't lose this match as they outswung the Warriors 60-53 and had a higher hitting percentage. Eagle's Victor Pacheco had a lights-out match, totaling 28 kills. The Eagles are now 3-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Thoughts from Coach B:
"Tough loss today but if I'm being honest, it was a good weekend. Since this program started, we are in year 4, Warner-Webber-Life has simply always been better than us! My challenge as a coach since taking over the men's program has been to change the culture and get our guys to believe they are on the same level as these teams. This weekend, I think we got there. Both Warner and Webber, with respect as I say this, had to rise/step up to close us out. It may sound odd but in two losses, we gained a lot of confidence and our guys now believe they can compete with the best teams and win. I'm proud of them for that and we will get back to the grind. Always a 1-0 mentality, so we are back to 0-0 until the next match.
Most importantly, I want to give thanks to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. All the Honor and Glory go to Him!"
