Waleska, GA – Reinhardt Men's Volleyball is off to a great start after first beating #15th ranked Campbellsville the night before, and then sweeping through their competition the next day versus Rio Grand and Morehouse. The Eagles have added some strong athletes to an already talented roster. Reinhardt is currently 3-0 and will be looking to play again this upcoming Friday, February 3rd, versus AAC opponents Warner University at 6:00pm.
Game One:
The first match of the day began at 11am versus Rio Grande out of Ohio. Reinhardt had control of the entire match with a solid performance offensively and defensively. Reinhardt won the match 3-0. Rodolfo Biegelmeyer is already playing a key role in his first year playing for Reinhardt. Versus Rio Grand, Biegelmeyer totaled 13 kills and just one error (.600). He also had 4 service aces and 8 digs. Victor Pacheco is also a key player, ending the match with 10 kills (.692). Bruno Dewes did a great job, setting his weapons at the net, 29 assists. Defensively, Alex Sanchez took control of the back row, totaling the team-high of 11 digs.
Thoughts from Coach B on Game One:
"Great to go 1-0 and proud of how the guys responded to their slow starts today. We worked our way into each set and took control. We have a lot of respect for Rio and they are talented up and down their roster with a good head coach. On our side, offense flowed well and the player's hard work with our defensive system is showing itself in the matches so far! Now it's onto Morehouse and trying to go 1-0 in that match! I want to give thanks and all the Glory to God!"
Game Two:
Game two for the Eagles was verse Morehouse College at 4pm. This game went a lot similarly to the first one, maintaining the momentum through each set, clenching the 3-0 win. Rodolfo Biegelmeyer and Victor Pacheco once again, had outstanding finishes. Biegelmeyer had 11 kills, while Pacheco had 10. Bruno Dewes led in assists with 16 and Freshman, Ethan Keung had 10. Defensively, Alex Sanchez had the squad-high of 17 digs.
Thoughts from Coach B on Game Two:
"Great way to close out the weekend by being able to go 1-0 vs Morehouse! The guys stayed focused and executed well in all 3 phases; offensively, defensive system, and serving. We will keep our 1-0 mentality and reset back to 0-0 and try to go 1-0 on Friday! To God Goes All the Glory!"
