WINSTON SALEM, N.C. – A return trip to take on the Bruins of Carolina (N.C.) was smooth sailing for the Eagles on Tuesday night after Reinhardt soared to victory in straight sets by the count of 25-15, 25-13, 25-15.
The hometown squad has now taken back-to-back matches en route to its 7-5 overall mark in 2021.
"Tonight was a good night as the guys did some good stuff," head coach CJ Shearer said. "We got contributions from everyone and we came out with a win; as a coach, that's all I can ask for.
"Everything goes to God, and we look forward to our next match."
Twenty-one errors from the Bruins set the tone for the night as the Eagles received a lot of help on the evening, but Reinhardt still combined for a .380 hitting percentage and 11 service aces – seven of which came from Victor Pacheco – tying Chase Cross' program record which was just set on Saturday against Midway (Ky.).
Reinhardt flew away in the opening set and didn't look back, posting a .643 percentage and 11 kills, and then forced Carolina into negative-hitting stanzas in games two and three to breeze to the shutout victory.
Matthew Corrales led the way offensively with nine kills and a .375 hitting percentage and three aces. Pacheco was next in line with a half-dozen scores.
Ricardo Mujica (14 assists) and Jake Pennypacker (11 dimes) helped pass to open teammates on 25 of the 27 kills.
John Hynes was all over the net with three solo blocks and a pair of assisted rejections.
A rematch with Life (Ga.) – who is receiving votes nationally – is next up on the docket on Saturday afternoon at home.
Opening serve is set for 1 p.m.
