CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Eagles evened their record at three wins and three losses Saturday after taking down conference foe Truett McConnell (Ga.) on the road in three sets – 25-15, 25-11, 25-14.
The victory gives Reinhardt its second triumph in as many matches in Mid-South Conference play.
Victor Pacheco had another fantastic outing today for the Eagles, as he combined to hit .500 with 10 kills and one ace. Ricardo Mujica also had a nice day with 20 assists and four aces (.500).
"Tonight was a solid overall team effort," head coach CJ Shearer said. "We were able to continue working on some things and building confidence moving forward, both in individual players and as a team. Proud of how this team is battling through the ups and downs of this season.
"Everything goes to God, and it's on to Warner University."
In the opening set, the Eagles jumped out to a 10-5 lead and ended up finishing with a match-high of 12 kills and a contest-low one error with a cumulative .478.
In the second set, Truett McConnell twice led by three points, but Reinhardt, fueled by a number of Mujica aces, battled back to take a commanding 20-10 lead and closed out the game at 25-11.
The third set stayed closer for longer than the previous two as Eagles only held a four-point lead with the score at 15-11. The visitors then went on a 10-3 run to close out the game at 25-15 and the match at three sets to zero.
Collectively, Reinhardt hit .381 with 33 total kills, four solo blocks and six assisted rejections.
Matthew Corrales led the team in digs with eight while Chase Cross and Nicolas Castro each pitched in six of their own.
Reinhardt continues league play on Thursday, Feb. 18 at home against Warner (Fla.).
The match begins at 7 p.m.
