We Have Witnessed Greatness in David Friedberg!
Eugene, Oregon - There are not really any words left to describe David Friedberg's accomplishments at Reinhardt University. The senior finished his collegiate track & field career with a magnificent seventh-place finish at the U.S. Track & Field Olympic Team Trials. He made it to the finals by throwing 70.36 meters and finishing in eleventh place overall after the first round. In the finals, he made the final cut to the remaining top eight throwers with a throw of 75.06 meters. This was a personal best for Friedberg outside of his NAIA collegiate throws. He is not far from the top throwers in this group and with a little more time and experience - he will find his way to the top of this list.
Friedberg had this to say about his first experience at the U.S. Olympic Trials, "I'm very blessed to be able to do what I do. Thanks to everyone for the support! This is only the beginning of my story and I have a lot more to accomplish. For those out there listening find your passion, work hard and the sky's the limit."
Friedberg has been led by Reinhardt University Track & Field Throws Coach, Josh White, for the past three seasons and this has no doubt affected Friedberg's career. White had this to say about Friedberg's accomplishments this past weekend, "To me the most impressive part of David's performance this weekend was his guts. It's something he's shown throughout his entire career. In 2023 at NAIA Nationals he won on his final throw, this year at Penn Relays, he won on his last throw. This weekend was no different. He had his best throw of the qualifying round on his 3rd and final thrower to advance to Sunday's finals. And then again on Sunday, on his 3rd throw, he had his best effort with a 75.06m to guarantee himself top 8 and 3 additional throws. That type of perseverance will serve him well as he continues his javelin career. There is no doubt that in 4 years he will be in a position to make the US Olympic Team in Los Angeles."
Friedberg will finish his career full of accomplishments and titles. He is no doubt one of the greatest (if not the greatest) athletes to walk through the doors of Reinhardt University.
• 7th place finish at the USATF Olympic Trials
• 3 time NAIA National Champion
• NAIA record holder at 76.08m
• 2024 Penn Relays Champion 73.86m
• Without a doubt the greatest javelin thrower in NAIA history!!
The future is extremely bright and he will continue his training for the next Olympics which will take place in the United States in 2028. Before then, there are many top-level events that Friedberg will attend working toward his goal of becoming a United States Olympian! Congratulations David Friedberg on your remarkable career and we are excited to see where you go next!
