Friedberg, RU Track & Field Shine at Atlanta Meets
Atlanta, GA - Reinhardt Track & Field was in action this weekend locally at the Emory Spring Break Classic and Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational. David Friedberg was the only participant to attend the Yellow Jacket Invitational where he was throwing the javelin. The rest of the team was at Emory University competing. The team is coming off a successful Indoor Track Season which should help them excel in the Outdoor Season.
David Friedberg picked right up where he left last spring as the two-time NAIA National Champion by winning the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a throw of 68.17 meters. His competition was all NCAA Division One athletes which shows the level of his ability. Friedberg is pushing his way to one of the top throwers in the world. Throws Coach Josh White has been working with Friedberg the past three years and has helped him get to a point where they are thinking he could be looked at for possibly U.S. Track and Field Trials. Friedberg will be attending the Penn Relays later in the track season, which is the best of the best in college track and field.
His throw of 68.17 meters already qualifies him for the NAIA Nationals so he can spend the rest of his season concentrating on hitting his other goals.
The athletes that attended the Emory Spring Break Classic also had tremendous success this past weekend with several new school records set. Below are the new school records, personal records, and highlights. A couple of standouts from the list below are Andrew Paolozzi who has the #1 throw in the AAC currently in the Hammer Throw at 51.42 meters, and Quan Dorsey set the current #1 time in the AAC at 15.26 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles.
