School Records and a Pair of Champions Crowned at the AAC Meet
COLUMBIA, S.C. – (Results) Personal records and conference championships were awarded to multiple Eagles on the track and field team as both the men's and women's squads continued to raise the bar in the AAC Championships on Friday.
The event, which was hosted by Columbia International (S.C.), saw the men's team come in fifth out of 14 clubs (100.5 points), while the Reinhardt women finished 11th.
"Proud of both our groups and the commitment they showed to see the season to the end," head coach Jordan Turner said. "Not the team finishes we wanted, but we were never at full strength this year and it's tough to win in a conference as good as ours when you don't have a deep squad. Thirty-one of our 47 conference performances were season-bests for our athletes, with 26 of those being lifetime-bests; that's an incredible feat and they occurred when we needed them the most. Johnny led our throws group to a big weekend with school records in both the hammer and discus. Proud of some amazing runs from Carly and Salvador in a hard 10K and 5K doubles. Braden and Alex had some exciting performances in the 800m.
"A special thanks to our seniors Jake, Pam, Robert, Deshaun and Dez for what they have contributed to our program. Each of these student-athletes have stepped up each and every time they were called upon to help the team. Robert and Dez were a part of an amazing 4x400m relay and can leave RU with a great memory in their last race in that relay."
