Paolozzi and Wright Among Many Stars for Reinhardt at the AAC Championships
Winston-Salem, NC - Reinhart Track and Field competed in the 2024 AAC Championships on Thursday and Friday this week with much improvement from previous years. The Men's Team continues to shine finishing in third place overall as a team and improving their team score to 106 from 84 a year ago. The Women's Team placed in the eighth position scoring 19 total points.
Two Eagles were crowned as AAC Champs! Andrew Paolozzi who qualified for NAIA Nations just a week ago won the Weight Throw and Austin Wright won the Pole Vault. Paolozzi was also named AAC Field Athlete of the Year for Indoor Track for his outstanding performances all season and for taking the crown in the AAC!
Besides Paolozzi and Wright being crowned as AAC Champs, several Eagles placed gaining All-Conference honors.
• Samantha Cramer placed 2nd in the High Jump, 1.56m (New RU Record and Personal Record)
• Emma Pelfrey placed 2nd in Pole Vault, 2.57m (Personal Record)
• Dontavious Barker placed 2nd in the 60m, 7.01s (ties Personal Record)
• Hayden Reyes placed 3rd in the 60m
• Braniff Mahoney placed 3rd in the 800m, 2:01.01 (Personal Record)
• Trey Campbell placed 3rd in the 400m, 50.95s (Personal Record)
• Logan Ray placed 3rd in the 600m
• The 4x400m team of Dontavious Barker, Hayden Reyes, Labe Woodward, and Trey Campbell placed 3rd
• Braniff Mahoney, Dontavious Barker, Logan Ray, and Tom Vincent finished 2nd in DMR
The team will have some time off between the end of the Indoor Season and the start of the spring Outdoor Season - which will begin in mid-March. Andrew Paolozzi will compete at the NAIA Indoor Nationals for Weight Throw in a couple of weeks.
The Training that the team has done over the winter months will transition right into the spring months and the times and distances will only improve where the Eagles can push for a conference title!
