Williams and Ray Qualify for NAIA Indoor Nationals
Brookings, SD - The Eagles had two members of their Indoor Track & Field team qualify for nationals. The event was held on March 3-5 and invited all the top indoor track athletes from the country to compete. Just for an athlete to get to this point is a huge accomplishment and the Eagles were able to get two there. Kerion Williams and Logan Ray both qualified during the season to compete at this event. Williams qualified at the Tiger Paw Classic in the Triple Jump. Logan Ray was able to qualify at the Appalachian Athletic Conference meet.
At the nationals, Logan Ray was able to finish 18th in the preliminaries with a time of 1:22:41 and Kerion Williams was able to jump 13.83 meters to finish in 22nd place.
Coach Turner had this to say about his two qualifying athletes, "Good experience for two freshmen at their first nationals meet. It's a step up in competition when you get to this level and to see it as freshmen will benefit them in the next three years. Pleased with both Logan and Kerion's performance and excited about what they will be able to do moving forward."
The Eagles have moved right into the spring outdoor season without any breaks. They will be competing at the Sewanee Duals this weekend to kick off the spring outdoor track and field season
