Eagles Tennis Competes at SSAC-SUN-AAC Crossover Challenge

Mobile, AL—RU Tennis competed at the SSAC-SUN-AAC Crossover Challenge Tournament from February 6th to 8th last week. Both teams had some success, with the Men's Team going 2-1 and the Women's team going 1-1.

The Men's Team went 2-1, beating Loyola 4-3 and Mobile 4-0. They lost to SCAD Savannah on Thursday. Against SCAD, two doubles teams won: Hensburg/Nobile and Masafret/Vallejo. In singles, Pol Masafret was able to pick up a win along with Prod'Homme against the Bees.

Against Loyola, Massafret/Vallejo won again at doubles, along with Wassef/Prod'Homme. In singles, Mendivil, Masafret, and Vallejo were able to win. Against Mobile, Masafret/Vallejo and Wassef/Prod'homme won in doubles again. In singles, Mendivil, Masafret, Hensburg, Vallejo, Nobile, and Prod'Homme all picked up wins!

The Women's Team won 4-3 over Mobile on Saturday and lost to SCAD Savannah on Thursday.  Against Mobile, Neyra/Hoeddinghaus won in doubles and in singles - Thomet, Becerra, Neyra, and Burstein all picked up wins to help the team get the early season victory.  The Women's Team is playing with only five women this season, which creates a slight disadvantage for the team.

Congratulations to Pilar Becerra and Pol Masafret for being named part of the All-Tournament Team!

This weekend, the Eagles will play Middle GA at home on Saturday (weather permitting) and at Young Harris College on Sunday.
