Eagles Beat Cumberland on the Road in Macon
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Men's and Women's Tennis had a busy weekend and week of matches with the men finishing with a 2-1 record and the women were 1-1.
The men's team played Cumberland (TN) last Saturday, #11 ranked (at the time) Middle Georgia State on Sunday, and a midweek game with Huntington College on Thursday. The men beat Cumberland 4-0 but lost 3-4 to Middle Georgia the following day with both competitions being played in Macon, Georgia. The score for the midweek Huntington game was 7-0 Eagles bringing their season record to 5-1.
In the Cumberland match, the team of Nik Hensberg and Federico Zeiter won their doubles match along with Zak Khalil and Juan Vallejo. In singles, Luciano Fisicaro, Pol Masafret, and Juan Vallejo won in singles.
Against Huntington, Khalil/Vallejo, and Hensberg/Zeiter won in doubles. In singles, Fisicaro, Khalil, Augustin Siufi, Masafret, Zeiter, and Vallejo all won giving the Eagles the dominant 7-0 win.
The polls released on Feb. 29th, had the Eagles moved up to #11 in the country.
The women's team had the most success versus Cumberland picking up the 4-1 win. The doubles teams of Mia Hoedinghaus and Elyse Standing, and Paula Blaschke and Camila Neyra both came away with wins in the second and third doubles positions respectively. In singles, Neyra and Standing were the winners giving the Eagles the singles points.
Reinhardt will be in action on Sunday and Monday with an away match with Union (AAC) on Sunday and Cumberlands (Ky) on Monday before heading back to Waleska. They will have back-to-back matches next Wednesday and Thursday at home with Milligan on Wednesday and Johnson on Thursday.
