Men's Tennis Wins Day One; Women's Team Narrowly Loses to End Season
Chattanooga, TN - On a day of sun and rain, the AAC Championships got underway with both men's and women's teams in action. The men were able to go first and get their complete schedule in outside, but the women ran into some weather issues and had to move to the indoor court.
The Men's team was able to win easily over the Rams of Bluefield, 4-0. Luciano Fisicaro led the way along with his doubles teammate, Pau Pujadas. Both picked up singles wins and they won 6-2 in doubles as well.
On the women's side, the Eagles ended up losing a tight one to Brenau to end their season. Nina Thomet was able to win in both singles and doubles. Her partner in doubles was Julieta Boerr. Taylor Nelson and Elyse Standing won as well in doubles. They had a great season with much improvement from the previous year. Some very talented newcomers like Pilar Becerra, Mia Hoeddinghaus, and Thomet really helped the veteran crew of Nelson, Boerr, Standing, Tayla Kruger, Tiffany le Roux, and others. With new additions coming in, this team should carry on with the successes that they gained this year.
The Men's Team will play Union on Friday with a chance to move on to NAIA Nationals with a win.
