Men's and Women's Tennis Both Win 7-0 at Point
West Point, GA - The Eagles were on the road Tuesday with a matchup with the Skyhawks of Point University. Both teams were very successful winning 7-0 each. The Men's Team extends their record to 7-1 and the Women's Team goes to 4-2.
On the Women's side, Team One of Pilar Becerra & Nina Thomet won 6-1 in their doubles match. Team Two of Mia Hoeddinghaus & Julieta Boerr and Team Three of Elyse Standing & Tayla Kruger received forfeits for their matches giving all doubles points to Reinhardt.
In singles, Hoeddinghaus was in the number one spot for the Eagles and she won 7-6, 6-3. Standing was in the second position and won 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, and in the third position was Tayla Kriger who won 6-0, 6-1.
The fourth, fifth, and sixth positions were not filled by Point so these matches received forfeits giving the Eagls the overall victory.
On the Men's side, two of the three doubles teams were able to get matches in with both teams winning. Team One of Luciano Fisicaro & Pau Pujadas won 6-1 and Team Two of Estaban Sued & Bruno Squarcia won 6-4. Team Three of Federico Zeiter & Nicholai Hensburg received a forfeit for their match and the Eagles took all points for doubles.
In singles, the men were able to get in five of the six positions with the Eagles coming away with all the wins. Fisicaro was able to win in his usual number one position winning 6-1, 6-0. He is having a great season and is one of the top tennis players in the AAC.
Following Fisicaro was Harsh Kheterpal (2nd) in the second spot followed by Pujadas (3rd), Squarcia (4th), Zeirter (5th), and Hensburg (6th). Kheterpal won 6-1. 6-4 and Pujadas won 6-1, 6-1. In the fourth position, Squarcia won 6-2, 6-1, and in the fifth spot, Zeiter won 6-0, 6-0. Hensburg received a forfeit for his spot as Point did not have one to fill that position for them.
The Men's Team is still ranked #13 in the NAIA and has a good shot of winning out going into the AAC tournament. The Women's Team is doing great as well and they have a chance to make a lot of noise in the AAC and hopefully, find a spot in this year's NAIA Nationals.
The team will be home this Friday at BridgeMill Athletic Club with a matchup against SCAD Savannah. It should be a competitive match for both teams.
