Eagles Narrowly Lose to Southeastern in NAIA Playoff Opener

Mobile, AL - Eagles Men's Golf Team found out a little over a week ago that they did enough in the season to get an invite to the NAIA National Tennis Playoffs. In the AAC Tournament, the Eagles won their first-round match-up and made it to the semifinal match before being put out. After that, they would have to wait to see if they were in the tournament or not. They did receive the invite and they drew Southeastern from Florida as their first-round opponent.

Today was the opening round of the NAIA Men's Tennis Playoffs which were being held in Mobile, AL. The Eagles started early this morning in the game with Southeastern and they started the day really great. They won two of the three doubles matches with the teams of Jordi Puig Ramon / Yunnick Feihle (RUGA) and Pau Pujadas / Federico Gomez (RUGA) both winning. Team Jordi Puig Ramon / Yunnick Feihle (RUGA) won in the #1 doubles match, 6-3, and Team Pau Pujadas / Federico Gomez (RUGA) won doubles #2, 6-1. #3 doubles team, Sam Alexander / Jaiden Watts (RUGA), narrowly lost 3-5.

In singles Jordi Puig Ramon (RUGA) and Federico Gomez (RUGA) would dominate like they have been doing all season for the Eagles. Jordi Puig Ramon won his game, 6-3 and 6-4, in #1 singles. Federico Gomez (RUGA) won in #2 singles, 6-0 and 6-4. That would be the only singles wins for the Eagles which resulted in the narrow defeat to Southeastern. Both Said Santin (RUGA) and Joe Herin (RUGA) forced three sets in their matches at #5 and #6 singles, but they would come up just short. 

The Eagles will look to build on some of the successes from this season and bring some of the young talent up to fill the spots. Just making the NAIA National Tournament is something to be proud of, but the Eagles will not be satisfied with just making the National Tournament. They will look to bring in new talent so they can get back to making noise in the tournament each year.
