Waleska, GA - In this weekend AAC matchup, the RU Men's Soccer tied 2-2 with the Johnson Univeristy to stay in contention with the postseason conference tournament. Most teams ahead of the Eagles (currently 9th overall) have played at least two more games so one can expect that Reinhardt will move up as the season progresses.
From the kick-off, each team played aggressively. The Eagles took an early lead with Alexander Itov scoring at 18:30, helped by an assist from John Simmons. This early momentum was maintained until the Royals managed to equalize, making it 1-1 by halftime. As the second half unfolded, Evan DeYou, another talented youngster for the Eagles, found the net at 60:37, tipping the scales temporarily in Reinhardt's favor. DeYou, a product of Chattanooga FC Academy, has a great future ahead of him as an Eagle. Despite Reinhardt's efforts and a resilient defense led by goalie Allan Tercjak, who ended the game with six saves, the Royals caught up by the final whistle.
The result leaves the Eagles with a season record of 4 wins, 6 losses, and 3 draws, with a 2-3-2 tally in AAC play. Looking ahead, the Eagles are gearing up to face Pikeville in Kentucky on Wednesday this week in another AAC matchup. The Eagles have five games remaining, three being at Ken White Field's friendly confines. All of these are AAC games that the Eagles will need to win to keep moving up the standings.
