Columbia, SC - Reinhardt Men's Soccer continued on Wednesday afternoon with an AAC matchup with CIU. The Eagles currently sit in sixth place in the AAC with a 2-1-1 record, and CIU is third with a 3-1-1 record. Six teams crowd the top of the AAC standings with just a game or two separating all.
Reinhardt's goal came in the twenty-eighth minute when freshman attacker Evan DeYou tallied his first goal of his collegiate career and gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The lead would last the majority of the game as goalkeeper Allan Tercjak and the Eagles' defense kept the Rams off the board.
Tercjack had eight saves in the game from nine shots on goal. So far, he has 57 total saves this season in 8 games played and recorded 3 shutouts.
The Rams got the equalizer late in the game, with roughly ten minutes left. CIU was able to fire off 24 shots in the game, with 9 being on target.
The Eagles made the most of their opportunities on goal, scoring one of only 4 shots on goal.
The result keeps the Eagles in the top half of the conference with ten conference games remaining. There is plenty of time for Reinhart to work its way toward the top of the standings since the teams are so close. Also, the Eagles still have to play three of the five teams in front of them.
The team has this weekend off and will be back at Ken White next Wednesday to face the Cavaliers of Montreat, 7 pm start.
