West Point, GA - Reinhardt Soccer was on the road for its third game of the fall season facing a talented old foe from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). The Eagles battled with the Skyhawks of Point University, where both teams ended the night scoreless. It was a heavy defensive game with not a lot of shots and the majority of the play was in the midfield area. The game ended 0-0 when the final seconds rolled off the clock.
Eagles goalkeeper Allan Trecjak only had one shot on goal from Point, and he was able to make the save. The backline for the Eagles was able to keep the box clear for most of the game. That has been a trend early in this season and should be a continuing theme as the season progresses. The backline for the Eagles is led by Captain Ivan Patta.
Offensively, the Eagles were not able to get many shots as well, but they were able to get four shots on goal. Attacker Cristian Gonzalez was able to get two of those four shots but just missed hitting the back of the net. TJ Headman and Edson Escobar got the other two shots on goal.
There were seven yellow cards handed out during the game, highlighting the defensive front each team was putting up. Reinhardt had three of the seven.
The Eagles will be back at home to face NCAA DII Shorter University Hawks on Saturday evening at Ken White Field. After this, they will open up their AAC schedule the following Saturday at home versus St. Andrews. Life University is the only nonconference opponent they will face for the rest of the season.
