Eagles Add Another Shutout Win Against UPike
Waleska, GA - The Bears from the Univesity of Pikeville were visiting Reinhardt for a midweek Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) matchup. Reinhardt was able to cruise to a 4-0 win. This was the Eagles' sixth shutout of the season and their sixth conference win moving them to seventh position in a tight race. They still have three of the top six teams in front of them left to play so movement up the standings is in their hands.
Ian Brunet got the Eagles scoring going in the first two minutes of the game on a ricochet shot that whizzed past the keeper into the side netting. Brunet had an outstanding game playing some at fullback, center defensive mid, and as a winger where he created several scoring opportunities for the Eagles. Along with his goal - he had two assists against the visiting Bear.
Helping Brunet in the scoring column in Wednesday's game was Rafael Pais, who scored in the first half from an assist from Maxime Correia. Correia was able to get a goal of his own in the second half from a Brunet assist. Andres Jorquera capped off the four-goal night for the Eagles again assisted by Correia. Correia and Pais are tied for the lead in goals for the Eagles this season with six goals each currently.
Coach Ruiz's "Man of the Match" goes to center-back, Raphael Mosponyuk who helped Elijah Clark and the Eagles' backline get the clean sheet in this AAC matchup. Mosponyuk has been a force for the Eagles this season along with his counterpart, Ivan Patta, who both form a strong center for the Eagles. The stats often do not do the backline defenders any justice, but their impact is felt in every game. This backline along with Clark's goalkeeping has been a definite strength for Reinhardt this season.
