Laurinburg, NC - The Eagles have proven that they are very good defensively this season as they have held the #2 team in the country (Dalton State) and the #20 team (Life University) to draws. Much of this is credited to veteran goalkeeper, Elijah Clark, who has had a great start to the season and has saved the Eagles many times this season. He is backed by top veteran defenders - Brady Craig, Raphael Mospanyuk, and Ivan Patta, and the newcomer to the backline - Ian Brunet, all of whom make up this strong backline for the Eagles.
The Eagles had solid defending again in Saturday's AAC opener on the road at St. Andrews where Reinhardt only allowed six shots on goal. Clark saved five of those goals, but the Knights would get one past him in the 69th minute of the game and was the eventual game winner.
Reinhardt's struggles this season have been finding the opportunities to get shots on goal and more importantly - get balls in the back of the net against their opponents. The Eagles could only get three shots total on goal in Saturday's game. Ovie Egberie, Andres Jorquera, and Rafael Pais each had shots on goal for the Eagles - but unfortunately, the Eagles could not put one past the Knight's keeper.
The Eagles will need to figure out its attack fairly quickly as AAC play is in full force now. The team will travel to Bryan on Wednesday for a 7:30 pm kick-off and then they will return to Waleska on Saturday for another AAC matchup with the visiting Koalas of Columbia College. That game will start at 2 p.m. at Ken White Field.
