Eagles Make Quick Work of Bulldogs in Tennessee
Athens, TN - In a decisive regular season AAC clash, the RU Eagles showcased their superiority with a 14-5 victory over the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs at the TWU Athletic Complex. This game was never in question as the Eagles jumped out to a fast 4-0 lead in the first quarter.
Reinhardt was able to keep the attack going in the second quarter adding another three goals going into the half 7-1. The Eagles kept the pace going in the second half adding an additional seven goals and putting another check in the AAC win column. Key players for Reinhardt included Luke Greer and Joey Amatulli, both of whom netted four goals each, leading the Eagles' offensive onslaught. Additional scoring was provided by Reid McDowell, Nathan Mesina, Brian Loudenslager, Gunner McGahee, Benjamin Shackelford, and Marshall Cisco, each contributing to the scoreboard. McDowell and Shackelford also made significant contributions with three assists each, reinforcing their role in the dynamic attack crafted by the Eagles.
Defensively, goalies Ethan Rogers and Michael Scoleri solidified the back, keeping the Bulldogs at bay. The team's strategy to command the game right from the outset was evident as they never allowed Tennessee Wesleyan to recover or pose a substantial threat after the initial lead. Rogers picked up his 6th win of the season in goal saving 5 from 8 shots on goal. Scholeri ended the game with 2 saves from 4 shots on goal.
Following this AAC win, which advances the Eagles' record to 10-1 overall and 6-1 in the conference, the team is looking to their next challenge. Next up will be the Point Skyhawks this Saturday in West Point, Georgia. The game will wrap up the 2025 regular season for the Eagles and the final conference will be released on Saturday evening.
