Eagles Unleash a Barrage of Goals at Montreat
Montreat, NC - Reinhardt put this game away early by scoring six goals in the first quarter and putting ten on the board before the Cavaliers could get their first goal. This was a quick and decisive AAC victory for the Eagles, winning 23-7 with just five games remaining in their regular schedule.
Led by standout performances from Luke Greer, who scored a team-high five goals, the Eagles quickly gained control of the game, taking an 11-2 lead by halftime. Greer's opening goal set the tone for what was to become a relentless assault on Montreat's defense. Other significant contributions came from various members of the team, including Brian Loudenslager, who put in three goals. Benjamin Shackelford, Tyrique Robinson, Reid McDowell, Nikarta Aeinechian, and Cameron Ison all contributed two goals each to keep the significant lead growing throughout the game.
Joey Amatulli emerged as the top playmaker of the day, delivering four assists. He also put in one goal and had three ground balls in the game. On the defensive end, Austin Scales was a notable presence, leading the Eagles with 10 total ground balls along with Mason King who had three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Goalkeeping duties were capably handled by Ethan Rogers, Michael Scoleri, and Gavin Sun, who collectively kept the Cavaliers' scoring opportunities to a minimum. In total, the Cavaliers were only able to get off eleven shots on goal against the Eagles 58 shots. Rogers and Scoleri both had two saves each.
The win keeps the Eagles in the upper spots of the top-heavy AAC, which has four of the Top Ten teams in the AAC. Looking ahead, Reinhardt University is set to face Aquinas University next on Friday, March 21, 2025. The game will be played in Athens, Tennesse on the campus of Tennessee Wesleyan. After the Aquinas game, the rest of the schedule shakes out like this: Keiser at home - then road games at Cumberlands, Tennessee Wesleyan, and Point before getting ready for the AAC Tournament.
