Eagles Get 2025 Lacrosse Season Started Off with a Concordia Win
Williamsburg, KY - In a thrilling start to their spring season, Eagles Lacroose soared to a 17-10 victory over the Concordia Cardinals on Saturday played on the University of the Cumberlands campus. The game, characterized by a high-scoring and dynamic performance, saw the Eagles establishing dominance early on with a halftime lead of 11-6, eventually extending their advantage to secure the win. The team is full of young players ready to walk in the footsteps of the talented players who came before them.
Key contributors to the Eagles' success included Luke Greer, who notched four goals and added two assists to lead the team. Reid McDowell and Benjamin Shackleford chipped in with three goals apiece, each coming up just behind Greer. The attacking front Reinhardt presented was relentless throughout the game against the Cardinals. Additional scoring support came from players like Joey Amatulli (2), Tyrique Robinson, Carter Garrison, Marshall Cisco, Nikarta Aeinechian, and Nathan Mesina, each of whom played significant roles in building the scoreboard pressure that subdued the Cardinals.
Brayden Callahan, guarding the net for Reinhardt, also made several key saves to fend off Concordia's attempts to close the gap. His efforts in goal were pivotal in keeping Reinhardt in the lead as the Eagles' offense continued to capitalize on scoring opportunities. He ended the game with 14 saves from 24 shots from the Cardinals.
The Eagles are bringing only a handful of veteran players who had significant field time from the past years, but they have seemed to have just reloaded and are ready to keep making noise in NAIA Men's Lacrosse.
The Eagles are now looking ahead to their next game, scheduled for this Saturday against SCAD Savannah at Ken White Field. With a current record of 1-0, the team is optimistic about continuing their winning streak and making significant strides in this season's NAIA lacrosse competitions. As this season progresses, the younger players are only going to get better, and this team will be ready to compete during postseason play.
