Eagles Keep Rolling with a 27-11 Win over Lawrence Tech
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Men's Lacrosse kept their 2024 winning streak alive with a 27-11 win over the visiting Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech. The Eagles' record goes to 5-0 on the season with a 2-0 conference record, but a crucial stretch of conference games is coming up. The Eagles will be on the road this Thursday through Saturday with games versus Keiser and Webber. Both are conference games and Keiser is the defending NAIA National Champion. They are games that the Eagles want to win and make a statement.
In Monday's game with Lawrence Tech, the Eagles got out quick again outscoring the Blue Devils 6-2 in the first quarter. The second quarter was tighter with a 5-4 spread, however, Reinhardt enjoyed an 11 to 6 halftime lead.
JR Sess opened up the scoring for the Eagles netting a goal in the first two minutes of the game. He was followed by two back-to-back goals by Cameron Cochran and another solo by Wyatt Maddox. Sess would end the day with 5 goals from 8 shots on goal. He also had 6 assists to go with the 5 goals and 9 ground balls.
Cameron Cochran also finished with 5 goals and he also had 3 assists and 6 ground balls. Cochran and Sess ended the first quarter with a goal each in the final minutes.
Leading scorer, Brady Hanak, got into the scoring act to start the second quarter where he found the back of the net with just about thirty seconds off the clock. He would finish the game with 7 goals and added 3 assists and 6 ground balls as well.
Attacker Ethan Lux matched Cochran and Sess with 5 goals of his own. Lux had 2 goals in the first half and then finished out the second half with his final 3 goals.
Defensively, goalkeeper Liam Wright, ended the game with 7 saves from 13 shots from the Blue Devils. The 7 saves gave him 33 saves on the season and put him in the top position of the All-Time Career Saves for the Eagles Men's Lacrosse program.
Stefan Duckett led the way for the Eagles with 18 ground balls in the face-off position. Duckett has taken over this role for the Eagles this season and leads the team in ground balls.
Reinhardt had an incredible 12 goals in the third quarter to just one from Lawrence Tech and this put the game away. Both teams scored 4 goals each in the fourth giving the Eagles the non-conference win before they head down to Florida on Thursday.
After the Keiser/Webber AAC games this weekend - the Eagles will finish out their schedule with Montreat, Tennessee Wesleyan, Cumberlands, and Point over the next several weeks. They are all conference games which will determine where Reinhardt ends up in the AAC Tournament coming up in mid-April.
