Eagles Move to 3-0 with Win at SCAD-Savannah
Savannah, GA - Reinhardt Men's Lacrosse moved its season record to 3-0 with another double-digit win. This time the opponent was SCAD-Savannah where the Eagles won 16 to 3.
Reinhardt was led in scoring by Cameron Cochran who had 7 goals in the game. He also added one assist and 2 ground balls. He was followed by Brady Hanak who had 4 goals and two assists. Hanak has led the Eagles in scoring in the past two games.
Wyatt Maddox had two goals as well to help the Eagles.
Defensively, Liam Wright got the start in goal where he had 6 saves from 9 shots on goal. Michael Scoleri also played the final minutes in goal where he made a save.
Jason Marx had his usual play on defense helping the backline keep the scores low. Marx ended up with 4 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers to lead the Eagles' back line. Stefan Duckett was a little down from his groundball average in the previous two games - but he did have 6 ground balls to lead the Eagles. Duckett was 16 of 22 on faceoffs.
Reinhardt led the complete game, but they only had a narrow 4-2 lead after the first quarter. The Eagles added two more goals before the half giving them a 6-2 lead at the break. After halftime, the Eagles turned on the jets to double their score in the third quarter. 12-2! They only gave up one more goal the rest of the way and added four in the fourth to secure their third win of the 2024 season.
In total, the Eagles had 45 shots with 29 on target keeping SCAD's goalkeeper very active. This is a common theme for any Reinhardt opponent as they will take shots fast and often and they usually find the back of the net.
The schedule will start to get increasingly more difficult as they move into conference play with ranked opponents like Keiser (2023 NAIA Champion), Webber Int., and Cumberlands before the season rounds out. Historically, the Eagles have dominated their regular season schedule and this should continue as we move into March and April moving towards the ultimate goal of getting into the NAIA National Tournament and bringing the title back to Reinhardt.
