Waleska, GA - Almost one year to the day, the Eagles suffered their one & only loss of the season of 2022 season - which was a loss to Keiser University. This time the opponent was Indiana Tech who the Eagles have beaten the past two years in the NAIA Finals to win the National Championship. Indiana Tech was coming off a loss to Kesier from the previous day where the Warriors lost in the final seconds of the game.
Reinhardt came out moving the ball well and getting shots, however, Indiana Tech was determined to play good defense and make things difficult for the Eagles' offense. Normally, the Eagles are able to get off many shots and most are on target. In today's game, things felt different offensively for the Eagles and they just could not get their shots to go in.
The Warriors were consistent the whole game scoring three goals in each quarter. Although scoring first with a goal from Carter Maurice, the Eagles were in an unfamiliar place being tied at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter is when the Eagles had trouble getting goals to go in and Indiana Tech would go up 6-4 at the half.
The second half would see the score stay within striking distance for the Eagles, but Indiana Tech would outscore the Eagles 3 to 1 in the third and then 3 to 2 in the fourth making the final 12 to 7. It was just an off day for the Eagles and they would be on the rare end of losing the game.
Carter Maurice, Cameron Cochran, and Wyatt Maddox all had two goals each to lead the Eagles in scoring.
The Eagles will have to regroup fast and get ready for the visiting Webber International Warriors on Tuesday evening. Webber is coming in ranked #10 in the country which will be another test to see how the Eagles stack up against the Top 10 teams in the NAIA.
