Strong Defense and Early Scoring Help Eagles Take Down SCAD, 13-1!
Waleska, GA- Despite the game having an hour-and-a-half delay, the Eagles wasted no time getting up quickly on the visiting Bees of SCAD Savannah. The 13 to 1 victory gives the Eagles their first conference win of the season and their fourth overall win. SCAD had some issues with their transportation, but they eventually made it to get the game in.
Brady Hanak would get the scoring started early for the Eagles putting a goal away in the 12th minute. It would be the first of three goals in the game for Hanak, and he also had 4 ground balls in the game.
The Eagles would put the game away after the first quarter as they would score five goals in the first quarter and eight overall goals in the first half.
The Eagles would slow the game down some in the third with only one goal being scored in the third quarter. This would be the quarter that SCAD was able to sneak one past starting goalkeeper, Liam Wright. Wright had 13 saves in the game from 14 total shots.
Joining Hanak with multiple goals were Cameron Cochran, Wyatt Maddox, and Carter Maurice, who all had multiple goals getting two goals each. Ezequiel Ceant had another good game as the Face Off man and had 11 ground balls for his stats.
The defense was solid tonight limiting the Bees from getting on the scoreboard most of the game. Matt Potvin, Jacob Pinson, Jason Marx, Wright, and others anchor the really strong, tough, and stingy defensive unit.
The Eagles can score in bunches and put a devasting blow on a team early. As long as the defense can hold up their side, it could be another great year for the Eagles trying to get six titles in a row.
The Eagles will have this weekend off and they will play again at home versus St. Andrews for another AAC game.
