RU Women's Golf Second, Men's Golf Sixth at Collegiate Tournaments
Reinhardt Men's and Women's Golf were at separate tournaments this past Monday and Tuesday, but both had excellent outings finding their way near the top of the tournaments.
The Women's Team stayed local, competing at the Brenau University Spring Golden Tiger Collegiate Invite. The Women's Team finished in second place behind the host team. The tournament was a two-round tournament, and the team shot 146 over par for the two-round total.
Topping the list for the Eagles was Carline Goddard, who finished in 7th place overall out of 33 golfers. She shot +31 for the two-day total. Her rounds were 94 on day one and 81 on day two. The 81 score was the lowest of any round for the Eagles. Goddard has been the most consistent golfer on the women's side for both the fall and spring seasons.
Following Goddard was Samantha Roper, who finished in 9th place overall with a +33 over par. She shot 87 and 90 for her two-round totals. This was Roper's best round as an Eagle!
Elizabeth Hamilton rounded out the top 10 finishers for the Eagles, placing in 10th overall with a +38 over par for her two-day total. She shot 91 on both of her rounds.
Isabella LoBue shot 44 over par, Samantha Hillhouse shot 46 over par, and Alana Harris was at +61 over par to finish the side for the Eagles.
The Men's Team placed 6th overall out of 15 teams competing. The tournament was held at Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The course was par 71 with a total of 6,965 yards across the eighteen holes.
Pride Dyer was the top Eagles on the men's side, coming in at the #17 position out of 81 total golfers. Dyer shot +10 over par, and his three rounds were 74, 75, and 74. Freshman Trey Schmidt, who has had a hot start to the spring season, shot +11 over par and finished in 20th place overall. His three rounds were 75, 74, and 75.
The rest of the team was Eli Howren in 30th place shooting +14 over par. Zane May tied Howren shooting +14 over par. MJ Hodge finished out the side for the Eagles shooting +16 over par.
Howren had the lowest round for the Eagles, where he shot a 72 in the third round.
The two teams will be at The Blue Mountain College Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 24-25, in Starkville, Mississippi.
