Schmidt Excellent in Start of the Spring Golf Season; Eagles Place Third
Jekyll Island, GA - Reinhardt Men's and Women's Golf started the spring golf season on the coast of Georgia for their first tournament of the season. The team was at the 2025 Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational hosted by Coastal Georgia. It was a three-round tournament for the men's side, and the women had two rounds over the two-day tournament. The men competed at a 7,114 yard, par 72 and the women were 5,963 yards, par 72.
The big news of this tournament was the job done by freshman Trey Schmidt, who had an excellent tournament. He placed second overall in a field of 88, just two strokes off the overall leader. He shot +5 over the three rounds, with two of the three rounds he was under par. His first round was 74, and he followed with a 67 and 69.
The men's team finished in third place overall out of 17 teams. The Eagles were just four strokes out of second place behind Keiser (1st) and Coastal Georgia (2nd). It was a great start for the Eagles, with four of the five golfers in 19th place or higher.
Zane May was the second Eagle, coming in at 16th place overall, shooting three over par for his three rounds. May was followed by MJ Hodge, and Pride Dyer tied for 19th place. Alec Strickland was the fifth Eagle golfer, shooting +6, +4, and +16.
The women's team was led by Elizabeth Hamilton, who placed 16th overall. She was +12 over par in her two rounds, shooting 76 on day one and 80 on day two. She was followed by Caroline Goddard, Isabelle LoBue, Samantha Hillhouse, and Alaina Harris, who rounded out the five-member squad for the women's team.
The teams will be at the Invite at Kinderlou in Valdosta, GA, next Monday and Tuesday. This is an annual tournament for the Eagles, which faces them against other AAC and NAIA competition.
