Chanc Willis and the Eagles Wrap Up the 2023-24 Season at Barnsley Gardens
Adairsville, GA - Reinhardt Golf has had a lot of success the past few seasons with the team winning the AAC two years ago sending the whole squad to the NAIA Nationals and last year sending Hunter Clay to represent the Eagles. This year, seniors Chanc Willis, Dalton Henson, and Dylan Long were called to lead the new crop of Eagles into the world of NAIA Golf. The three seniors capped off their senior season at the AAC Championship held at Barnsley Gardens Resort. This has become somewhat of a home course for Reinhardt Golf, but this past Monday and Tuesday - the Eagles came up just short of making it three in a row to be represented at the National Tournament.
Willis led the way for the Eagles finishing in 6th place overall. He was in fourth place at the end of day one, but a few strokes pushed him back to 6th position. For his efforts, he was selected to the AAC First Team All-Conference. His three rounds had scores of 78,72, & 77 for a total of 227. He was followed closely by Henson who came in 14th position shooting an 86, 74, & 74. Long finished in 25th position overall shooting an 85, 74, & 82.
The Eagles ended the tournament in 4th position overall with a 932 total and 30 strokes off the tournament winner (Truett McConnell). Reinhardt was sitting in third place at the end of day one with hopes of picking up some strokes in day three to squeeze into the lead, however, they slipped back a few strokes dropping them to fourth.
