Hunter Clay Advances as Men's Golf Competes at Nationals

SILVIS, Ill. – (Results) After finishing round one in 11th-place in the NAIA Men's Golf National Championships, the Eagles slipped 10 spots on day two and failed to make the cut at TPC at Deere Run in Illinois on Wednesday.
Reinhardt was 20-over-par collectively after the first day of play (304), but a cumulative 309 (613 total) pushed the hometown team down the leaderboard and out of contention.
The Eagles wrapped up their season in 21st overall out of 30 competing teams.
After a full day of play, the National Championships qualifiers were cut down to the top 17 teams and top 40 individuals, including ties, leading into the final rounds of play in the next two days.
Individually, Hunter Clay made the cut (T15) after moving up 13 spots on Wednesday thanks to an even-par round of 71. He is currently 3-over-par after a 74 on the opening journey around the course.
Clay is 11 shots back of the lead as he tees off on Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
Christopher Whitney carded an 80 on Wednesday after a 74 yesterday to finish in a tie for 74th. Brooks Gineris also shot 80 today to finish two shots behind Whitney, but came in a tie for 98th on the leaderboard.
Rounding out the top four scorers was Dalton Henson and Chanc Willis.
