Eagles Start the New Year with a Win Over Campbellsville
Waleska, GA - In an electrifying non-conference on New Year's Day, the Eagles secured a tight win against the visiting Tigers of Campbellsville University with a final score of 82-80. This win adds a significant boost to the Eagles' season record, now standing at 9-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
The game was neck-and-neck, with the halftime score displaying a slight edge for the Tigers at 35-34. Reinhardt was down eight points early in the first half, but they fought their way back to cut the lead to just one at the break. The Eagles were fueled by standout performances from Nate Jones, Tee Williams, Brasen James, Zae Wiggins, and Tucker Lowe. Each of the players hit double-figure scoring to help the Eagles notch the win.
Nate Jones led the scoring for Reinhardt with an impressive 24 points, followed by Zae Wiggins, who added 15 points to the team's total. Tee Williams and Derrick Brown both added 13 points and Tucker Lowe gave the team a much-needed second-half boost, scoring 11 total. Williams led all Eagles with eight rebounds, followed closely by James with six total. Wiggins had an impressive six assists coming off the bench.
Another notable performance came from Kam Vick, who remarkably scored 35 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Tigers. The Tigers needed all of his game-high 35 to stay in the game in the second half when the Eagles pushed out to a nine-point lead late in the game. It was a scrappy game for the Eagles, who had to claw their way through it to pick up the win.
Looking ahead, the Eagles prepare to face the Bluefield Rams this Saturday in Waleska. The Reinhardt Women will tip off first, starting at noon, followed by the Men's team around 2 pm. This will be the first AAC game of the 2025 calendar, which seems to be a very competitive season for both Eagles squads. Come out and support the Eagles this Saturday!
