Rams Take Out the Eagles in Columbia
Columbia, SC - In a challenging AAC matchup at Moore Fitness Center, the Reinhardt Eagles were unable to secure a victory against the CIU Rams, with the final score settling at 78-99. Despite an energetic effort, the Eagles fell short against a strong CIU team, which expanded their lead significantly during the game, at one point holding a 24-point advantage.
The first half concluded with the Eagles trailing at 31-50, a gap that they struggled to close in the second half of the game. Notable performances for Reinhardt came from Brasen James, who led the team with 22 points, followed closely by Nate Jones with 18 points, and Derrick Brown, who added 15 points along with 7 rebounds. Other contributors included Tee Williams with 11 points and 5 rebounds, and Zae Wiggins, who posted a versatile line including 6 points, a rebound, a steal, and a block.
The win puts CIU at the top of the standings, tied with Bryan College - both teams with one conference loss. Reinhardt sits just outside the top two spots, tied with UPike and Johnson. Reinhardt, UPike, and Johnson all have two losses each. The Eagles have one less loss than UPike and Johnson, but they have only played 6 AAC games so far. The new year will bring new opportunities for the Eagles to turn around this loss when the AAC second half starts back.
The Eagles now hold a season record of 6-6 overall and 4-2 in their conference. As they regroup, they look forward to their next challenge against the Campbellsville Tigers on New Year's Day in Waleska. The game is set for 5:30 pm on January 1, 2025.
