Pikeville, KY - In a riveting display of skill and teamwork, the Reinhardt Eagles soared to an 85-79 victory over the UPike Bears on a road game in Kentucky. This AAC win bolsters the Eagles' season record to an impressive 4-2 overall and maintains their unbeaten streak in conference play at 2-0. This currently puts the Eagles in the top spot early in this season.
The Eagles had a comfortable nine-point halftime lead, 44-35, and kept this going in the second half. Key players emerged. Tee Williams led the scoring with 29 points, contributing 6 rebounds and a steal. Nate Jones also played a crucial role, adding 18 points and securing important free throws in the dying moments to ensure the Eagles' victory.
The game showcased Reinhardt's depth, with contributions across the board: Zae Wiggins and Donovan Pearman added cheers with their quick steals, while Brasen James grabbed crucial rebounds and added 10 points of his own. The game's turning point came as Reinhardt rallied back in the second half, displaying determination and tight defense that ultimately secured their win. Shooting guard Tucker Lowe and swing-man Derrick Brown came off the bench adding 6 and 7 points, respectively. Lowe's six points came on two three-pointers to help the Eagles keep a steady lead.
Upike was able to narrow the lead to just three points late in the game and was threatening to take the lead from the Eagles. However, the Eagles would not have any of this and kept their scoring going all the way to the end to secure the road win!
