Eagles Struggle Shooting at Milligan
Elizabethton, TN - The Eagles have had a solid January stringing together a series of wins, which they have not been able to do to start the season. They have been playing together as a team very well and many players are contributing to the success, but they took a slight step backward on a midweek road game at Milligan. The Eagles would end up losing this one, 86-57.
Reinhardt had a tough night getting points on the board after shooting 32.7% from the field and just over 8% in three-pointers. This is a stat that the Eagles have been doing very well over their past six to seven games and the shots just did not fall for the Eagles in this one.
Only one player reached double-figure scoring - Darrien Reed came off the bench to score 11 for the Eagles. Brasen James and Nekhi Fisher both had 8 points each and team scoring leader, Nate Jones, was only able to get 7 points in the game.
The loss puts the Eagles back at 8-8 in conference play, which ties them with Montreat and Bryan and has them sitting in the eighth and final spot in the AAC Tournament standings. They are still in a spot where a few wins can move them up the standings, but we are getting to the point in the season where one of the top four spots in the conference standings is out of reach.
Reinhardt only has two more home games in their final eight regular season games so they will have to figure out how to get a few AAC road wins to stay in the conference tournament race. Next up for the Eagles is a road game at Bluefield on Sunday afternoon and then a game at conference leader, UPike, on Monday. This is a test for the Eagles to see if they have what it takes to finish out the season. If they can repeat in February what they did in January, then they should be in place to return to the AAC Tournament.
