Eagles Suffer Setback on the Road at Montreat
Montreat, NC - The Eagles ran into a hot-shooting Cavalier team on the road with Montreat University on Wednesday evening losing 87-81 in the AAC matchup.
Reinhart got behind early in the game and had to play catchup with Montreat the rest of the way. The only lead the Eagles had was a 3-0 lead in the first minute of the game that came from a Tyler Smith jumper from behind the arch. Smith was back after having a few games off after suffering an injury in last week's game with Bryan College. Smith would end up scoring 17 points and pulling down 4 rebounds in the loss. He led the team in scoring after the two-game break.
Montreat's shooting from the field was very good at 52.2% from the field and 51.5% from three-point land. The Eagles had some issues shooting in the game as they shot 37.3% from the field and 20.6% from three-point land.
Joining Smith in double-figure scoring was Nate Louis (15) and Nekhi Fisher (13). Brandon Barron came off the bench in this game helping the Eagles with 9 points. Nate Jones and Brasen James both had 8 points in the game.
The Eagles still had a high turnover margin at 16 total turnovers compared to 13 assists. Barron led the team with 4 total assists.
Defensively, the Eagles had a good number of steals with 15 total with Fred Adams coming up with 5 total in the game.
Reinhardt will return to campus after the game and start preparing for the next game with AAC opponent, Milligan Buffaloes. The game is set for 4 pm this Saturday directly after the women's game and can be seen on our YouTube live stream if you cannot attend the game.
