HISTORY MADE!! Reinhardt Kicks-Off Very First Women’s Flag Football Season
Elizabethton, Tennessee – On a historical day for the Reinhardt Flag Football team beginning its first ever season, they traveled to Milligan University to match-up against Midland University and Kansas Wesleyan University on Thursday, March 2nd. They ended the day 0-2 but after preparing and working hard all Fall, the Eagles look to come together for the upcoming games ahead. This is Reinhardt's newest team, head coached by Toni Fuller. Reinhardt is very excited that Coach Fuller and this team is now a part of the school and we look forward to watching the season play out.
The first game for the Eagles was versus Midland University at 12:30pm. Midland, who is now on their 3rd season, ultimately beat Reinhardt 26-0. Offensively, Dechea Branham threw 1-4 for 24 yards and Victoria Salmon threw 2-3 for 9 yards.Victoria Salmon also received 2 passes for 24 yards. On defense, Victoria Salmon had 6 tackles, while Adriana Brustmeyer had 4. The second game for the Eagles was played at 2:00pm versus Kansas Wesleyan. KWU won the game 32-6 but Dechea Branham made history by scoring Reinhardt's very first touchdown that happened in the 1st quarter from a 25 yard pass from Kaliah Wimbush. Wimbush threw 12-20 for 93 yards. On the receiving end, Dechea Branham also led in receiving yards with 49, whole Adriana Brustmeyer had 28. Brustmeyer also had 4 tackles on the day.
Up next Reinhardt's Flag Football will be traveling to Campbellsville next Tuesday, March 14th, and be playing Thomas University and Hocking College at 11:00am and 3:30am.
