Christopher and Paulsen Control UPike in Game One of the AAC Tournament

Kingsport, TN - Reinhardt Baseball got their 2025 AAC Tournament started on Wednesday afternoon in a matchup with the Pikeville Bears.  The Eagles were able to get four across the plate, which allowed starter Adam Christopher to hold down the Bears from scoring.  Hunter Paulsen came in to pitch the final two innings after a rain/lightning delay and kept the score locked at 4-1 Eagles.  It wasn't the offensive show that Eagles fans have become accustomed to, but the name of the game in tournament play is to win and advance.

Louis Dion, Nash Crowell, Adrian Vargas, and Jacob Mantooth were instrumental in scoring runs for the Eagles, each adding a vital point to the scoreboard. Crowell, along with Barry Eiseman and Luca Boscarino, drove in runs to secure the win for Reinhardt. The offense came from a sacrifice fly by Crowell in the first inning, a run scored after a double-play ball in the second, and then two hit-by-pitch runs in the sixth inning.

Starting pitcher Adam Christoph delivered a commendable performance, setting the pace for the Eagles' dominance. Following Christoph, Hunter Paulsen continued the excellent pitching, which played a pivotal role in maintaining the lead by restricting the Bears to just one run. Christopher only had one strikeout in his seven innings, but he was able to control the game and not allow baserunners to cross the plate.  Paulsen struck out two batters in his two inning save.

The Eagles will take the game one win into Thursday's game, where they will face Milligan University, who bring with it a record of 31-20 and a win against Bluefield in the opening round of the AAC Tournament.  The game is set for a noon start again, and it can be seen on Southeast Sports Network's YouTube channel.  SESN YOUTUBE LIVE
