Eagles Sweep Union in AAC Series to Move Record to 21-4
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt completed the series sweep of the Union Commonwealth Bulldogs on Friday afternoon doubleheader. The Eagles got the offense going again in both games to win game one, 12-6, and the second game, 8-2. In many ways, it was a statement series, as the team had some up-and-down moments throughout, but different factions of the team stepped up to help the others out. At times, the pitching was great during the season and then moments later - the Bulldogs would rattle off a few hits and chip away at the lead. All three games had moments like this, but each time the Eagles would bounce back and gain control of the game again.
Game One
Andrew Herbert got the start for the Eagles and he started off in his usual fashion by striking out batters or getting easy ground balls for the defense to pick up. However, there were moments when Union started stringing a few hits together and working their way back into the game. Herbert recorded strikeouts in his six innings, but the Bulldogs got nine hits against him, creating five runs. In the end, the offense did its job by creating plenty of cushion and the relievers finished out the game solid for Herbert. Logan Lynch, Ryan Mahoney, and Hunter Paulsen pitched the seventh through ninth innings for the Eagles and all had good outings, only allowing one run during the three innings.
