Eagles Score 15 Runs in Opening Game of Union Series
Waleska, GA - A Sign of a good team is one that will pick each other up when one part is not having their best day. That was what happened when the Eagles faced the Bulldogs of Union Commonwealth in game one of the AAC weekend series. The offense erupted with fifteen runs to get the team over the hump in this one, winning 15-10, in a game that had the Eagles playing catchup part of the way.
Timothy Pate started for the Eagles, and he got in 2.1 innings where he struck out two Bulldogs, however, he gave up four hits and four runs. Union had the lead in the game for the first four innings of the game, which had the Eagles playing catchup. Brock Weiss came in to relieve Pate, and he was able to strike out three batters, but he also had some issues giving up 5 hits in his 2.2 innings.
Ben Medley came in next and was able to pitch three solid innings for the Eagles, but he also had some moments that allowed the Bulldogs to creep back into the game. Medley struck out two batters while giving up three hits and three runs. Brett Allen came in the top of the ninth, and he also pitched a solid inning. However, he allowed a hit-and-run, which is uncharacteristic of his usual performance. Overall, Allen did great and closed out the game, keeping the five-run lead intact.
