Herbert's Nine Strikeouts Helps Eagles Stay Undefeated
Laurinburg, NC - Reinhardt Baseball continues to impress, earning a tough 2-1 victory at St. Andrews on Saturday. The Eagles were able to secure the win behind the strong arm of All-American Andrew Herbert, who picked up his fourth win of the season.
Herbert has been nothing but magnificent early this season, proving his preseason All-American honors. He is living up to the success of the past two seasons and shows why he is one of the best on the mound in the NAIA. He pitched seven innings against the Knights, giving up six hits, one run, and striking out nine! He was relieved by fellow NAIA preseason All-American Brett Allen in the top of the eighth and finished out the game strong, recording a strikeout and not giving up a run, securing the one-run lead. Allen picked up his third save of the season.

There was not a lot of runs scored in the game, however, the Eagles did get 10 hits. They were able to get on base, but they did not have much success getting them across the plate. The two runs came from two doubles in the game. The first run came in the first inning on a Nash Crowell doule which scored Adrian Vargas. The only other Reinhardt run came in the second inning on Robert Phelp's double to left field that scored Cade Chamlee. That would be it for the game. Crowell ended the day hitting 2 for 3, Phelps was 2 for 4, and Vargas was 3 for 5 with the run scored.
The Eagles will get a doubleheader in on Sunday afternoon with game one starting at noon. The second game should begin around 3 pm. Games are available at St Andrews Sports Network
