Eagles Throw Five Pitchers at Midway for the Sweep!
Waleska, GA - Things are happening at Ken White Baseball Field! It is very early in the NAIA spring baseball season, but the #6 Eagles seem to be thriving from the momentum gained at last year's World Series run. The team is much different, but they seem to have all the parts working to make this another special baseball season in Waleska.
The Eagles extend their win streak to six in a row and sweep the series with Midway! It took a little more work to chip away at the 3-1 lead the visiting Eagles obtained in the fourth inning. There was never any panic moments, and the Eagles just did their business throwing five from the very talented pitching staff at Midway. The pitching did its job, and the offense came around to tie the game in the fifth and then added two more in the seventh to make it 5-3.
Timothy Pate, Ben Medley, Logan Lynch, Adam Christopher, and Brett Allen got innings against Midway. Pate got the start and looked good early. Midway did connect for a few hits in the third and fourth innings. The fourth inning hit was a home run by the Midway catcher who sent the ball deep over the left-center fence. Despite giving up three runs in his four innings, it was a decent showing for Pate in his first action as a Reinhardt Eagle. He finished the day with two strikeouts.
After Pate was finished, Reinhardt went the rest of the way with Medley, Lynch, Christopher, and Allen all pitching around an inning each. The Eagle's staff accomplished what it set out to do by getting several guys time on the mound and getting the win.
Medley had a great outing, striking out five batters to lead the Eagles. Lynch almost repeated Medley's performance by striking out four Midway batters. Christopher and Allen came into clean it up and finish the game out for the Eagles. Both pitched one inning each with Christopher recording two strikeouts and Allen striking out the side in the top of the ninth to pick up the save.

Offense:
Adrian Vargas was 2 for 3 at the plate and had 2 RBIs. Vargas was a big part at helping the Eagles chip away at the early 3-1 lead.
Robert Phelps homered in the third inning to get the Eagles on the board and tie the game at one all. The Eagles were able to put two runs on the board in the fifth, which tied the game at three all, and then they got two more across the plate in the seventh to take the final lead of the game.
Also notable was Luca Boscarino who doubled in the game.
The Eagles have shown that they can win in several different ways this season. It is a long time until April rolls around and conferene standings start to finish out - but the Eagles look to be contenders in the AAC once again. Conference play will begin next weekend with Truett McConnell at Ken White Field, but before then - the Eagles travel to South Georgia for a road game single at Brewton Parker on Tuesday (weather depending).
