Lewiston, Id. - The Eagles have had a great run in the 2024 NAIA World Series by making it to the final four teams left and the only team without a loss going into Wednesday's game with the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan. The Bulldogs got the best of the Eagles in this one by getting a few late runs in the eighth inning off the Eagles relief pitching. The offense could not get things going and Reinhardt suffered their first tournament loss, 6-2.
Adam Christopher got the start for the Eagles and pitched his best game of the season topping his previous best in the NAIA Opening Round series just two weeks ago. He threw a total of 103 pitches. He pitched 7 solid innings striking out 4 and only giving up 2 earned runs. He scattered seven hits over those innings.

Offensively, the Eagles' bats were somewhat cold in this game. The Bulldogs were getting excellent pitching from its starter, Daniel Davita, who struck out 10 batters. Jarrett Burney and Matty Maurer were the only two batters that could get things going for the Eagles. Burney was 2 for 5 with one RBI and one run scored. Maurer was 2 for 3 in the game. Lance Dockery got the other RBI for the Eagles.
With the loss, Reinhardt, Tennessee Wesleyan, and Hope International have one loss each which put the teams into the tournament tie-breaker scenario. The first scenario played out in favor of Hope International because they did not have a bye in the entire tournament. The rules moved Hope into Friday's championship game automatically and matched up the Eagles and Bulldogs to face each other once again. The game will be played on Thursday at 9:35 pm EST and the game can be seen FREE OF CHARGE on ESPN 3 once again. The winner moves on to play Hope International on Friday and the loser packs up its 2024 season.
