The Bats Keep Producing for the Eagles in an 11-7 Win over Cumberland
Lebanon, TN - RU Baseball continues to put up big runs this season and they do not show signs of slowing down. They put things together to get their final midweek game of the season winning 11 to 7 at Cumberland (TN). The hot bats of Nash Crowell, Jarrett Burney, and Dylan Lewis all homered in the game with Lewis getting two over the fence. The pitching staff did its job to keep the runs low and the Eagles were able to walk out with a win! It is the team's 32nd win of the regular season and 22nd AAC game of the regular season.
Lewis struck first with a solo shot in the first inning and then his second came in the fourth which scored Burney who was on base. Lewis led the Eagles going 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Burney and Crowell both homered in the sixth inning with Burney's solo shot over the fence coming first. Crowell had two men on base before he sent the ball out giving him 3 RBIs on the hit. Crowell ended the day going 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Burney went 2 for 3 recording 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Reinhardt received additional offense from Luis Mendoza, Matty Maurer, and Adrian Vargas who both joined the home run crew with extra-base hits. Mendoza and Maurer both had doubles in the game and Vargas joined Crowell with a triple in the game.
Adam Christopher got the start for the Eagles and he was able to pitch three and two-thirds innings before being relieved by Hunter Paulsen. Christopher recorded 2 strikeouts in his innings, however, he gave up three home runs. The Eagles had a good lead at this point in the game so the three runs did not hurt them. Paulsen came to help him out of the fourth inning, but he gave up two runs which allowed the Phoenix to hang around. Brock Weiss, Cobey Allison, and Brett Allen came in to finish out the game. Allen had the best outing pitching two innings and striking out two batters without allowing a run. Brett Allen keeps showing that he is reliable no matter where you put him in the game.
With the offensive output having such a good game, the Eagles were allowed to make a few mistakes pitching and giving up 7 runs, but this will not be the case once the team moves to better competition in the AAC Tournament and the NAIA National Playoffs.
