Eagles Pour it on the Knights with Five Home Runs
Macon, GA - RU Baseball erupted with 19 runs in the midweek single at Middle Georgia taking down the Knights 19-8! The Eagles had five home runs in the game helping them light up the scoreboard.
Dylan Lewis, Marcerio Allen, Luis Mendoza, and Matty Maurer all went deep against the Knights. Mendoza was able to get two out against Middle Georgia's pitching. Lewis also added three doubles in the game going 5 for 6 with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Mendoza was on Lewis' tail by going 3 for 3 with 5 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
Jarrett Burney and Richard Castro both went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored each. Castro added 2 RBIs to his stats as well.
The breakout innings for the Eagles were the first and second were they were able to score 13 of their 19 runs. The scored in every inning besides the fourth and eighth when the game ended.
A combination of six pitchers got time in the19 to 8 win for the Eagles. Hunter Paulsen, Cobey Allison, Hal Stelljes, Brock Weiss, Evan Venable, and Ryan Mahoney all pitched at least an inning against the Knights. Paulsen got the start for the Eagles, but it was Allison that would get the win as he pitched 3 innings striking out two batters and did not allow a run after coming in for Paulsen in the second inning. The Eagles gave up 3 runs in the first inning and then another 5 runs. The rest of the innings were scoreless for the Eagles defense. Joining Allison holding Middle GA scoreless was Stelljes, Weiss, and Mahoney.
Eagles take on the Royals of Johnson University this Friday and Saturday back at Ken White Field. The single game will be Friday starting at 4 pm and the doubleheader Saturday will begin at 1 pm.
