Eagles Score 25 in Doubleheader Win Against KCU!
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt Baseball did their best to light up the scoreboard in both games of the doubleheader on Saturday versus the Knights of Kentucky Christian. Game one was behind the dominating performance of starting pitcher, Andrew Herbert, who recorded a 12-0 shutout win. In game two, the offense gave the pitchers plenty of room to work with a 13-4 win.
Game One
Andrew Herbert was the story of game one. The All-American pitcher pitched the complete game recording 7 strikeouts and only allowing 2 total hits from the Knights. He was magnificent mowing down the batters as they came to the plate. The offense gave Herbert all the support he needed to end the game after 7 innings (NAIA run-rule). Herbert picked up his third win on the season after coming back from injury at the tail end of February.
Offensively, Lance Dockery led the Eagles in the hitting department going 4 for 4 in the game scoring 2 runs, and producing 3 RBIs. Adrian Vargas was right there with him going 2 for 5 in the game producing 3 RBIs as well with 2 runs scored. Dockery and Vargas both had doubles in the game to go along with Nash Crowell and Marcerio Allen. Third baseman, Jarrett Burney, had a triple in the second inning and later scored from a single by Tucker Zdunich.
The Eagles led from start to finish in this game and there was no doubt on who would win after the Eagles had 8 runs at the bottom of the fourth inning. They added the final four runs in the eighth and ninth innings, setting the tone for the second game of the doubleheader that followed.
Game Two
Game two was not as smooth as the first game, however, starting pitcher Ben Medley did have his first four innings of work as shutout baseball. In the fifth inning, he had some issues allowing 3 earned runs (one unearned), but that would be all the Knights could get against the outpouring of runs produced by the Eagles.
Eli Clotfelter came in to pitch the final two innings of the scheduled seven-inning doubleheader game. Clotfelfter recorded one strikeout and only allowed one hit.

Burney was 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored. One of his hits was a double in the game. Allen was 2 for 2 in the game with 3 runs scored.

Reinhardt will play the final game of the Kentucky Christian series on Sunday at noon at Ken White Field. After this, they will have a game with Point University at home on Tuesday (weather permitting) before they start preparing for #1 Southeastern University.
