Zdunich and Crowell Help Eagles Get Two at Union
Barbourville, Kentucky - On the week that Reinhardt Baseball moved to #11 in the NAIA Top 25, the team ended the week with an AAC series at Union College. The Eagles were able to pick up three wins behind the bats of Tucker Zdunich and Nash Crowell and the arms of Ben Medley, Andrew Herbert, and Brett Allen. The Eagles won game one of the doubleheader on Thursday 8-5 and then they won 6-1 in the second seven-inning game. The series finale that was supposed to take place on Friday was moved to Saturday because of the weather, however, it was one that the Eagles might want to forget. The team lost 11-0 in the third-game finale.
Game One
Alex Galvez got the start but came out after facing just three batters. Ben Medley took over from there and pitched seven and two-thirds innings where he was able to strike out 5 batters and only allowed 4 hits. He did have 4 earned runs on him, but the runs came after the Eagles offense had already done their damage. Brett Allen came in to finish the game for the Eagles where he pitched the final batter of the eighth and the rest of the ninth. He struck out one batter and gave up a run.

Crowell smashed the ball out with Dylan Lewis, Tucker Zdunich, and Jacob Profit on the bases. Zdunich kept the home run theme going in the sixth inning with a two-run homer of his own. This put the Eagles up 6-0 before the Bulldogs got their four runs.

Tucker Zdunich would be the offensive generator again for the Eagles hitting his second home run of the day. He was helped by Richard Castro who also got the ball out of the park. Castro's bat is starting to heat up in the last couple of games after having a slow start to the season. Zdunich and Castro homered back-to-back in the fifth inning to put the first runs on the board for both teams. Their home runs were both solo shots, but the Eagles were able to put two more runs up in the inning on a triple by third baseman Jarrett Burney. Burney's triple scored Nash Crowell. Burney later crossed the plate on a wild pitch by the Bulldogs.
Along with a triple, Burney also had a double in the game and was joined by Crowell, Dylan Lewis, Adrian Vargas, and Luis Mendoza. Zdunich led the team with 2 RBIs going 2 for 4. Castro, Burney, and Mendoza rounded out the RBIs for the Eagles getting them to the 6-1 commanding victory.
Game Three
Game three was a tough day at the office for the Eagles. They could not get any offense generated and the Bulldogs were able to get multi-run innings in the second through the fifth innings giving up eleven runs total.
Eli Clottfelter got the start for the Eagles but was only able to go two innings before being pulled. Clottfelter game up 3 hits and 3 earned runs before getting relieved by Hunter Paulsen in the third inning. Paulsen had a rough time as well giving up five runs in his time of the mound. Adam Christopher and Alex Galvez finished up the last few innings for the Eagles.
