Eagles Lose in Bottom of the Ninth at Milligan
Milligan Collete, TN - Reinhardt Baseball gives up two runs in the bottom of the ninth to let a win go in the first game series at Milligan on Thursday. The Eagles had a narrow one-point lead going into the bottom of the ninth when the Buffaloes were able to get two across the plate and end the game 7-6.
Blake Rogers got the start in this first game of a three-game series with Milligan and was able to pitch two and a third innings before being relieved by Ben Medley. Rogers did not have his usual time on the mound as he gave up 5 hits and 3 runs with no strikeouts. This is very unlike Rogers' past several appearances for the Eagles where he has been brilliant on the mound.
Medley came in and had a good outing pitching four and a third innings striking out six Buffaloes. He gave up 5 hits and allowed 2 runs spread over the 4.1 innings before being pulled for Brett Allen. Allen pitched all of the eighth and ninth innings for the Eagles striking out three batters. He had a good eighth inning not allowing a run, but had some trouble in the ninth giving up the two runs which ended the game.

Offensively, the Eagles cooled down a little from the hot streak that they have been on since the Southeast Rumble. One bat that was still on fire was shortstop, Luis Mendoza. Mendoza went 3 for 3 in the game with four RBIs and one run scored. He had 2 doubles in the game.
Nash Crowell went 1 for 2 in the game with 2 runs scored and he had a stolen base. Dylan Lewis, who has had one of the hottest bats in the AAC for the past several weeks, went just 1 for 5 in the game, but his one hit was a double.
Reinhardt scored a run in the second inning and then added five runs in the sixth to take back the lead against Milligan, but the lead would not hold with the two runs being scored in the bottom of the ninth. They will have to put this loss behind them and get ready for the doubleheader tomorrow ahead of the rain that is scheduled to come in. The first game is at noon tomorrow with the 7-inning finale to follow. The Eagles can still take the series by sweeping the doubleheader on Friday.
