Eagles Take Two on Day Three of Southeast Rumble
Waleska, GA - Reinhardt University Baseball was able to pick up two more wins today - the last one in dramatic fashion with a tenth-inning, walk-off home run to win 8-7 over Tennessee Southern in game two of the day. The Eagles were able to get a shutout in game one against a talented Taylor University team from Indiana. Reinhardt won 4-0 in that game.
GAME ONE
In game one, Alex Galvez pitched a gem of a game going 6 innings striking out 6, and only giving up 2 runs. Galvez was followed by Cobey Allison and Brett Allen to finish out the shutout of the #9 team in the NAIA. Both pitched a little over an inning and only gave up one hit each. Allison struck out two batters while pitching in his second game in a row, and Allen had two strikes as well.

The offense in game one came in the fifth and seventh innings. Adrian Vargas doubled to score Tucker Zdunich and Lance Dockery to put the Eagles up 2-0. In the seventh, Jamel Rookard was able to reach base on a fielder's choice, which brought in pinch-runner, Parker Doyle. Next, Luis Mendoza singled which scored Dylan Lewis, and at the end of the seven - the Eagles were up 4-0 and that is how the game would end.
Tucker Zdunich led the Eagles in hitting going 4 for 5 with a double. Vargas was 1 for 3 in the game but had 2 RBIs to help the Eagles. Mendoza was 2 for 3 in the game.
GAME TWO
Game two for the Eagles was a little different than the first game, however, the Eagles did have a lead for the majority of the game. Reinhardt held a 4 to 1 lead going into the fifth inning and the Firehawks of Tennessee Southern chipped their way back into the game. They were able to get back two runs in the top of the fifth making the game 4-3 Eagles. Reinhardt scored one more in the bottom of the sixth to go up 5-3, however, later in the game Tennessee Southern scored two runs to tie the game at 5 runs each. After the Eagles failed to put runs on the board in the bottom of the eighth, the Firehawks took full advantage of the game scoring two runs in the ninth which put them up 7-5 over Reinhardt.
The Eagles were able to answer the two runs in the bottom of the ninth on the bats of Adrian Vargas who hit a solo home run to right field. Later in the inning, catcher Dylan Martin singled to center field to tie the game at 7-7. This moved the game to extra innings, but it would only take one inning to get the Eagles over the top. Reliever Eli Clotfelter did an amazing job keeping the Firehawks scoreless in the top of the tenth. The bottom of the tenth would only take one batter to finish off the game. Centerfielder, Lance Dockery had the swing of a lifetime which crushed the ball over the left-centerfield wall ending the game 8-7 Eagles.
Blake Rogers got the start in the game and he went two and two-thirds inning striking out two batters and allowing 2 hits. Hal Stelljes and Ben Medley came in after Rogers and pitched several innings giving up some runs to allow the Firehawks to tie the game and take the lead. Eli Clotfelter came in to help the Eagles calm the game and put the team in the position for the extra-innings win. Clotfelter struck out two and only allowed one hit in his one and two-thirds innings. He was able to pick up the win.

Offensively, Nash Crowell would have the best game hitting a home run in the first and scoring 3 RBIs. Crowell was 3 for 5 in the game with 4 RBIs total. Adrian Vargas and Lance Dockery were the other two home runs in the game.
The Eagles will possibly have one last Southeast Rumble game on Sunday depending on the weather with another matchup with Baker University. After this, the Eagles will play Cumberland University on Tuesday and then they will be at Truett McConnell for a weekend conference series.
