Two Tough Losses for Eagles on Doubleheader Day in Shreveport
Shreveport, LA - The Eagles continued their Louisiana baseball trip on Friday with a doubleheader with Tabor University and LSU-Shreveport. Unfortunately, both games did not go in favor of the Eagles, but some bright spots happened and it is early as the team tries to find its identity for the season. Game one was an eruption of runs for both teams with Tabor winning 11-7 and in game two with Shreveport, the Pilots won 6-2.
Ben Medley would get the start in game one for the Eagles and he was able to get 3.2 innings in before being relieved by Evan Venable in the fourth inning. Medley gave up 5 runs (3 earned) and 7 hits during his time on the mound. He also recorded one strikeout. Venebale was able to last 1.2 innings before being pulled after he gave up 5 runs (3 earned) in just the 1.2 innings of work. Brett Allen was the bright spot on the mound for the Eagles in game one of the day where he struck out three batters and only one score in his 3.2 innings. The run scored during Allen's time in the game was unearned and he only allowed one hit. Allen will definitely be a player to watch going forward for Coach Burton's pitching staff.

Offensively, the Eagles were able to get some runs on the board, however, it was a little too late in the game and the Bluejays had already done their damage by this point. The bright spot offensively was outfielder Jamel Rookard's sixth-inning grand slam which scored Jacob Profit, Marcerio Allen, and Luis Mendoza. Dylan Lewis solo homered in the second inning and also had another RBI in the fifth on a single that scored Nash Crowell. Rookard was 2 for 5 in the game, Lewis was 2 for 3, and Tucker Zdunich finished 2 for 4.
In game two of the day, the Eagles faced LSU-Shreveport for a second time. Reinhardt would have a tough time scoring runs only putting 2 on the board against the Pilots. The two runs scored were on a passed ball which scored Crowell in the seventh and then later in the inning Jarrett Burney hit a Sac Fly that scored Zdunich.
The Eagles were a little better on the mound in the second game, however, they did give up three home runs in the game. Jalen Hernandez would get the start in game two and pitch 3 full innings. Hernandez struck out 4 Pilots batters and only allowed three hits. Cobey Allison relieved Hernandez in the fourth inning and recorded 3 strikeouts and only gave up 3 hits as well. LSU-Shreveport was able to get 2 home runs on Allison and score 3 runs. Hal Stelljes came in to pitch the final 1.1 inning in the game and he gave up 2 hits, one run, and recorded one strikeout.

The Eagles will have one more shot on Saturday afternoon to get one on this Louisiana trip. They will face Tabor University at 1 pm in Shreveport before making their way back to Georgia. It will be great for the Eagles to pick up a win before heading home as they prepare next week for the Southeastern Rumble - which starts on Thursday in Waleska.
