Eagles Take Two in Union Series Doubleheader
Waleska, GA - Eagles got back on the winning track in the opening two games of the series with Union. The Eagles got good performances from Tucker Zdunich and Lance Dockery in both games and Andrew Herbert and Ethan Foley got it done on the mound. Reinhardt won game one, 10-3, and they won game two, 4-3, in a come-from-behind victory.
Game One
Tucker Zdunich has had a great month of March and the first part of April. His bat has come alive and he has caught up to the team's home run leaders after having somewhat of a slow start. He hit two home runs for the Eagles in game one that opened things up and the team never looked back. Zdunich's home runs came in the first and second innings with the first being a solo shot to put the Eagles on the board 1-0. His second home run was in the second inning which was a three-run homer that scored Jacob Profit and Richard Castro.
Lance Dockery continued his hot streak this season by hitting a solo homer in the fifth inning. Dawson Johns got the other home run in the game in the seventh inning. Zdunich led the way for the Eagles with 5 RBIs and Dockery had 3 total.
Andrew Herbert got the start on the mound for the Eagles and was able to pitch seven solid innings before being relieved by Cobey Allison. Herbert got 6 strikeouts and only allowed 4 hits with 2 runs scored. Allison pitched the final two innings for the Eagles where he recorded 2 strikeouts and allowed 2 hits.

Game Two
In game two, the Eagles trailed most of the game until things got exciting in the fifth and sixth innings. Ethan Foley got the start for the Eagles and pitched a complete game where he recorded 8 strikeouts and allowed 8 hits over the seven-inning game. He only gave up three runs with two coming in the first inning and the other was a solo home run in the third. Despite those runs, Foley was pitching great and kept the Eagles in striking distance to allow what took place in the later innings.
Dylan Lewis would get the Eagles on the board in the first inning when he singled to left to score Lance Dockery. The Eagles would go on a dry spell until Tucker Zdunich got the Eagles one spot closer to the Bulldogs with a solo home run in the fifth inning. Lewis would get a chance to step up once more in the sixth where he crushed a homer that tied things up at 3-3. The final run of the game would come from some creativity and player movement to manufacture a run. Jarrett Burney would get on base from a walk and Jacob Profit would pinch-hit for Zach Rabe. Profit laid down a perfect bunt which is his specialty and his legs would do the rest. The Eagles now had speed on the bases with Burney and Profit and with Jamel Rookard at the plate - the Eagles executed a perfect double steal which the speed on the bases did perfectly. Shayne Campbell would come up to the plate next and he would lay a perfect sacrifice bunt down the first base line which allowed Burney to make it home putting the Eagles up 4 to 3.
Foley was able to finish Union off in the top of the seventh, but things did get interesting as a walk and double put runners at second and third. Foley hung in there and got the final two outs to end the game with a narrow 4-3 victory.
The Eagles will try to get in game three early on Friday morning at 10 am start. After the weekend off, the Eagles will be back at home for a single with Middle Georgia at home and then a road weekend series with first-place Tennessee Wesleyan to see who is at the top of the standings in the AAC.
